Description

In Mercedes-Benz engineering, the expansion tank is a critical component of the “closed-loop” cooling system. As the engine reaches operating temperature, the coolant expands; the tank provides the necessary volume for this overflow and uses a specifically calibrated pressure cap to raise the boiling point of the fluid. This prevents air pockets from forming, which could otherwise lead to localized overheating and engine damage.
